THE DETAILS, IN PLAIN LANGUAGE

Privacy Policy

Effective October 8, 2026

AlongWeGo helps groups plan road trips together. This policy describes information handled by the trip planner at alongwego.com and its associated chatgpt.site address. We do not sell your account information or private trip plans.

Information used to run the planner

  • Sign-in information: The sign-in method you choose (Google or ChatGPT) supplies a provider account identifier, your email address, and an available profile name. We use these to recognize you, display your name and initials, and match invitations. AlongWeGo does not receive your Google or ChatGPT password, Gmail messages, or ChatGPT chat history. Google sign-in requests only identity, email, and profile information. If you explicitly connect Google while signed in with ChatGPT, we store that connection and combine your trips; matching email addresses alone do not link accounts.
  • Trip information: We store saved trip names, origins, destinations, stops, addresses, place identifiers, schedules, visit durations, group membership, and each member’s interest in stops.
  • Invitations: The organizer supplies an invitee’s email address. We store that address, a protected invitation token and encrypted copy of the link, its expiry, and whether it was used. Invitations expire after seven days; expiry does not itself erase the database record. We email invitation links through Cloudflare Email Service when the organizer creates or resends an invitation. The current trip owner can view and copy pending links. We record member email addresses and removal times to cancel only relevant invitations and prevent older links from restoring removed access.
  • Email accounts and earlier accounts: If you previously created a Wayfolk account, earlier profile details, password hashes, and account records may remain to support restoring your trips. You can also create an AlongWeGo account with your first and last name, email address, and a password. We store a salted password hash, never your readable password. Email verification is required before email accounts can sign in or join groups.

Who can see your trips

Saved trips require sign-in and group membership. Other members of your group can see its itinerary, member names, and stop preferences and can edit shared plans. Only the trip creator can issue invitations. Group members can copy or share information outside the service, so invite people you trust. The public example trip contains demonstration content; changes to it are temporary.

Google Maps and other service providers

Google provides optional sign-in as well as Maps. Google Maps loads within the planner. Google receives browser and network information, such as your IP address, and the map areas, place searches, origins, destinations, and stops needed to display places and calculate routes. Our routing service also sends trip locations to Google. AlongWeGo does not request your device’s live GPS location.

Google handles this information under the Google Privacy Policy, incorporated here for use of Google Maps features. Place photos, ratings, hours, and prices come from Google and its contributors. Links to venues and other websites take you to services with their own privacy practices.

OpenAI provides ChatGPT sign-in and Sites hosting; Cloudflare provides hosting infrastructure and trip database storage. These providers may process technical logs and security information to deliver and protect their services. See the OpenAI Privacy Policy and Cloudflare Privacy Policy. Providers may process information in countries other than your own.

Cloudflare Email Service delivers account verification codes and password-reset emails from support@alongwego.com. It processes the recipient address, message content, and delivery information. These messages contain no advertising or tracking pixels. Verification codes expire after 15 minutes; password-reset links expire after 30 minutes. Both work only once. We retain protected tokens temporarily and rate-limit account requests to prevent abuse.

Cookies, advertising, and affiliate links

Sign-in and hosting providers use session and security mechanisms, which may include cookies. Google sign-in uses a secure AlongWeGo session cookie for up to seven days and a short-lived cookie to protect the sign-in flow. We store protected session tokens and short-lived sign-in records, not Google access or refresh tokens. Email sign-in also uses a secure session cookie lasting up to seven days. Signing out invalidates the current email and Google sessions. Resetting an email password invalidates all email-and-password sessions; Google and ChatGPT sign-in sessions are managed separately. A legacy Wayfolk session cookie may be used to restore earlier trips. Google Maps may use its own cookies and similar technologies.

AlongWeGo currently has an inactive advertising placeholder and no separate site analytics integration. If Google advertising is enabled later, loading an ad will send browser information to Google and may involve cookies or similar technologies; we will update this policy and provide any required choices before activation. Future affiliate links or paid placements will be labeled. We do not provide private group itineraries or account information to advertisers for sale.

Retention, requests, and security

Saved trips and membership records remain stored so your group can return to them. Removing a stop updates the shared itinerary. You can delete your AlongWeGo account from Account. First transfer ownership of any trips with other members. Deletion removes your memberships, stop preferences, stored Google profiles and sessions, linked legacy account records, and trips with no other members that you own. Shared stops remain in other members’ trips. This does not delete your Google or ChatGPT account; signing in again does not restore former memberships. Trip owners can remove members, cancel invitations, transfer ownership, or permanently delete a trip. Members can leave a group. There is no automatic retention-expiry feature. You may also request access, correction, or deletion using the contact below; we may need to verify your identity. Provider backups, security logs, or records required by law may persist beyond removal from the active application.

We use HTTPS and server-side membership checks to protect saved trips. No service can guarantee absolute security. Do not include passwords, payment details, or sensitive personal information in trip names or stops. Parents and guardians should supervise children’s use and avoid sharing children’s personal details.
